Kazumi Wilds, writer/illustrator
Born
in Tokyo, Kazumi Wilds graduated from Women's art colleges
in Tokyo majoring in Japanese painting (Nihonga). Whilst
living in the US she wrote her first picture book "Hajime
in the North Woods", about her first son and the
wild animals in MN where she lived, which was published
by Arcade Publishing of New York in 1994. Wilds now lives
and paints in the mountains of Shimane prefecture in
Japan.

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is the only international
organization to offer a variety of services to people who write, illustrate,
or share a vital interest in children's literature.
The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers,
illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers
and others involved with literature for young people.
The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Tokyo branch offers members
support, information, and education at a local level in mainland Japan.
